Summary
This is an aerial view of the Point of Rocks Estates in 1970 around the time it was new. This neighborhood of single-family homes was built between 1968-1993.
See the historic train station in the foreground. Todd Steel plant is in upper middle, and other industrial buildings on the upper right of the photo.
Here are some stories from the early days.
Dolores Sylvain We lived on the top of the hill in the estates. I remember in 1973 when ha helicopter blared that we had to evacuate because of the pending flood...but of course we were safe.
Jeanmarie Mercer Bartlett We moved in August 1969, out house was directly across from Todd Steel. We would sit on the porch and watch the glow while workers were working at night.
Eileen Mercer Markum I see my house! We moved in August of 1969. My brother is still in that house.
Denny Brown I was always on the river, below the bridge.....fishing in one of Lettie Shore's boats. I miss that woman and ...those days.
