Summary

What was going on here? The photo was mistakenly identified as the Civilian Air Patrol, but it was more likely the U.S. Army commissioned Aircraft Warning Service during World War II. According to Jackie Ebersole, “I believe this location is out on Scheer Stadium property near where the dugout is on the third base side of Little League Field. Those people monitored the skys for planes when I was really young. I believe my neighbor Ann Malone did it and I remember the little building on a slight rise in the ground near the swimming pool. Jim Main was in charge, I think.”

The library documented those pictured here as:

Top - Delegate Joe Payne, ?, Cerelia Thomas, Katie Eagle Roelke, ?, Peachey Brooks, Margaret Eagle Dixon

Kneeling - Irv Ephraim, ?, Bill Weller
