Summary
Aftermath of a train and car collision at the Pigeon Hill railroad crossing near Doubs in 1952. Railroad crew and bystanders help remove the driver, Mr. Shaft, who was the mailman in Doubs, from his his van after having been pushed some distance down the tracks. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The man on the right holding carrying Mr. Shaft is Norman Best, a B&O carpenter. The man on the left holding Mr. Shaft is believed to be Leo Davis.
The crossing was subsequently closed as a result of this accident. Crashes happened often because there were no warning devices back then.
