Summary

An old photo of White's Ferry. White's Ferry was the last remaining cable ferry service that carried cars, bicycles, and pedestrians across the Potomac River between Loudoun County, Virginia and Montgomery County, Maryland.

The location offered fishing services and water recreation including canoeing. It transported approximately 600 customers daily until closing in 2020.

The Ferry had a very long term lease with the landowner on the Virginia side. When it came time to renew the new the lease the Virginia landowner wanted a large amount of money. It has been going back and forth with lawyers and the courts. Loudoun County has now joined the fight to try to get the matter resolved.
