Upon the other hand I believe him as a young man anxious to transact a business which might be both beneficial and creditable to himself and felt no disposition to throw anything in the way of the accomplishments of that object. I now leave the matter with the board with the simple remark that in this as in all my official action during my connection with the company I have sought to have an eye single to the interest of the company and those doing business upon the canal.
