At the request of the State of Maryland the following Bond was recorded February 15, 1856.

To the Honorable Madison Nelson Judge of the third judicial circuit of the State of Maryland.

The petition of William Wenner

respectfully shows that he wishes your honor to grant him the liberty to keep a ferry across the river Potomac from the town of Berlin to the opposite shore of said river in the state of Virginia.

and that your honor should you grant said permission,

will at the same time, ascertain and fix in current money the price of ferriage, for passengers and horses. and the several kind of carriages, at said ferry and also ascertain a fix how many and what kind of boats shall be kept and what number of able bodied and skilful hands shall be employed in the boats at said ferry. and your petitioner prays for such other and further Fred. A. Schley Attny for petitioner In the Circuit Court of Frederick County.. February Term 1856.. On reading and considering the above petition it is this 15th day of February 1856 ordered and adjudged by the court that a license be granted to William Wenner to keep a ferry from the Town of Berlin across the Potomac River to the Virginia shore from the first day of March 1856 to the first day of March 1857 and that he shall keep two good ferry boats and two able bodied and skilful hands for the purpose of the ferry aforesaid, and that his rate of charge for ferriage shall be for every wagon and six horses, one
