To the President and board of Directors of the Chesapeake & Ohio Canal. Sirs: I am living in a house that John Rench Tornesh lived in. stands between the two ware houses in Berlin Md.

that it belongs to the Canal Company. I wish to rent it.

I am willing to pay the rent required by

the Canal Co. Gentlemen: I am a poor widow women with a large family Wm. Rench has been collecting a rent off of me which is out of reason and all character. Gentlemen, please let me hear from you as soon as possible. By so doing you will oblige your humble servant. Martha E. Cooper
