REF.03

Knoxville March 11,1867 W. H. Ringold, Esq. Sirs: The president of the canal co. directed me to address you in relation to some water privileges at longacomming furnace formerly known as Blue Ridge Furnace near Knoxville.

I want the privilege

of taking the water out of the canal in the same manner as Masay Grenn and Baker did as their fixture and arrangement are still perfect.

The amount of water used will be to supply a sixty horse

engine and three sluices with one inch to each sluice under a fourteen foot head.

But the actual consumption of water is that

which flows off in steam and the water from the sluices is returned back to the canal.

Would prefer the arrangement for a term of

years if agreeable to the canal board.

You will confer a

particular favor by inserting this to the board at their next meeting. Respectfully Yours C. Berger
