At the request of the Chesapeake & Ohio Canal Company, the following inquisitions are recorded June 14, 1832.
State of Maryland, Frederick County, to wit:
George Rohr, an Justice of the Peace of the State of Maryland, in and for Frederick County aforesaid, to Peter Brenjle, Esquire, Sheriff of Fred. County, Greeting:

Whereas it has this day been made to appear to me that the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal is intended to (pass) through a certain tract or parcel of land, belonging in fee simple to a certain Mrs. Emerentienne Corbally, who is out of the State of Maryland; that the said tract of land is situate in Frederick County aforesaid on and contiguous to the north bank of the Potomac river, that a part of said tract, so situate as aforesaid, is needed and required by the said Chesapeake and Ohio Canal Company as of an absolute estate in perpetuity in said Company for the making of the said canal and its locks, dams, feeders and other works. And the President and Directors of the said Chesapeake and Ohio Canal Company having thereupon this same day made application to me, for a warrant to be issued to the Sheriff of the Frederick County aforesaid, to summon a jury to meet on the said land to value the same and all damages Mrs. Emerentienne Corbally, as owner thereof, shall sustain by cutting the said canal through the said land and do forth, according to the provisions of the charter of the said Company. You are therefore hereby commanded that all excuses and delays apart, you do summon a jury of eighteen good and lawful men, inhabitants of Frederick County aforesaid, not related to the parties aforesaid nor in any manner interested to meet on the said tract of land of the said Mrs. Corbally, so situate as aforesaid on Tuesday the first day of May next at ten o'clock in the forenoon, then and there to make the said evaluation and judgment of damages, as aforesaid, according to the provisions of the Charter of the said Chesapeake and Ohio Canal Company in such case made. And the inquisition therefrom taken, you do sign and cause to be signed by, some twelve or more the jury, and that you thereupon return the same to the Clerk of Frederick County aforesaid. Where of fail not. Given under my hand this 19th day of April in the Year of Our Lord 1832.

To John Schley Esquire Clerk of Frederick County, Maryland, In pursuance of a warrant issued by George Rohr a Justice of the Peace in and for the said County on the 19th day of April 1832 (herewith returned) I forthwith summoned a jury of eighteen good and lawful men, inhabitants of Frederick County aforesaid, not related to the parties nor in any manner interested to meet on the land of Mrs. Emerentienne Corbally, situate in said county to be valued for the use of the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal Company and fifteen of the said jurors, having met on the said land at the time
