A flat roof was built over the school and decorative brick parapets added to the tops of the brick walls. She was active in the community and celebrated on her 90th birthday by the Merryland Tract Homemaker's Club on March 27, 1976. She had been a 30-year member at the time. She owned an antique store at the intersection of Routes 180 and 79 and also sold antiques from her home.
